150 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-150 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D built to an inside diameter of 2.862 in (72.69 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.068 in (77.93 mm), catalogued under part number TST150SO. It installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

As a material, PTFE (Teflon) offers near-universal chemical inertness and excellent dielectric properties. Expect good resistance to strong acids and bases, nearly all industrial chemicals, and steam. Published continuous service range is -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Applications involving molten alkali metals or elemental fluorine at temperature call for a different compound.
