This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-220 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D supplied with an inside diameter of 1.359 in (34.52 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.637 in (41.58 mm), catalogued under part number TST220. It extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

The compound resists oxidizing media, solvents, and nearly all industrial chemicals. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) is valued for near-universal chemical inertness and a very wide continuous service temperature range. Published continuous service range is -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It should not be specified for service in elemental fluorine at temperature or service requiring elastic recovery.

Typical settings include laboratory equipment, chemical processing, and semiconductor fabrication.
