245 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

The TST245SO is an AS568-245 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring built to an inside diameter of 4.359 in (110.72 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 4.637 in (117.78 mm). This back-up ring extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

This material stands up to steam, solvents, and strong acids and bases. PTFE (Teflon) is widely chosen for a very wide continuous service temperature range and near-universal chemical inertness. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Exposure to service requiring elastic recovery or molten alkali metals will shorten service life.

Typical settings include aggressive-media pipelines, pharmaceutical and biotech, and semiconductor fabrication.
