This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-343 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D supplied with an inside diameter of 3.725 in (94.62 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 4.145 in (105.28 mm), catalogued under part number TST343. It installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

Expect good resistance to steam, strong acids and bases, and nearly all industrial chemicals. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) offers one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics. Rated temperature range runs from -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C) in continuous service.

Typical settings include aggressive-media pipelines, laboratory equipment, and chemical processing.
