359 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

The TST359SO is an AS568-359 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 5.725 in (145.42 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 6.145 in (156.08 mm). This back-up ring installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

PTFE (Teflon) offers one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and excellent dielectric properties. It resists nearly all industrial chemicals, oxidizing media, and steam. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Exposure to molten alkali metals or service requiring elastic recovery will shorten service life.
