361 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-361 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D built to an inside diameter of 5.975 in (151.77 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 6.395 in (162.43 mm), catalogued under part number TST361SO. It bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

As a material, PTFE (Teflon) is valued for near-universal chemical inertness and excellent dielectric properties. The material holds up against solvents, steam, and strong acids and bases. Rated temperature range runs from -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C) in continuous service. It should not be specified for service in molten alkali metals or elemental fluorine at temperature.
