448 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

Ordered as TST448SO, this is an AS568-448 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring with an inside diameter of 9.475 in (240.67 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 10.025 in (254.64 mm). The back-up ring installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

The material holds up against steam, strong acids and bases, and oxidizing media. PTFE (Teflon) offers near-universal chemical inertness and excellent dielectric properties. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). Exposure to elemental fluorine at temperature or service requiring elastic recovery will shorten service life.
