453 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

Ordered as TST453SO, this is an AS568-453 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring built to an inside diameter of 11.975 in (304.17 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 12.525 in (318.14 mm). The back-up ring extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

The material holds up against strong acids and bases, solvents, and steam. PTFE (Teflon) delivers one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and a very wide continuous service temperature range. Rated temperature range runs from -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C) in continuous service. It should not be specified for service in molten alkali metals or service requiring elastic recovery.
