457 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-457 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D with an inside diameter of 13.975 in (354.97 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 14.525 in (368.94 mm), catalogued under part number TST457SO. It extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

PTFE (Teflon) is specified here for excellent dielectric properties and very wide continuous service temperature range. The material holds up against solvents, strong acids and bases, and nearly all industrial chemicals. Rated temperature range runs from -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C) in continuous service. It is not the right choice where molten alkali metals or elemental fluorine at temperature are present.

It sees regular use in pharmaceutical and biotech, laboratory equipment, and semiconductor fabrication.
