8-112 BLACK FKM 90D BACK-UP RING

APG stocks the VBU90112, an AS568-112 black Viton® (FKM) 90 Shore A Back-Up Ring built to an inside diameter of 0.487 in (12.37 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.693 in (17.6 mm). A back-up ring installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

Viton® (FKM) is specified here for very low compression set at elevated temperature and outstanding high-temperature capability. This material stands up to aromatic hydrocarbons, petroleum oils and fuels, and many acids. Rated temperature range runs from -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C) in continuous service. Applications involving hot water and steam or low-molecular-weight organic acids call for a different compound.
