This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-347 black Viton® (FKM) 90 Shore A supplied with an inside diameter of 4.225 in (107.32 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 4.645 in (117.98 mm), catalogued under part number VBU90347. It extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

Viton® (FKM) is specified here for outstanding high-temperature capability and very low compression set at elevated temperature. It resists chlorinated solvents, engine and transmission fluids, and aromatic hydrocarbons. The material carries a published service range of -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). It is not the right choice where hot water and steam or low-molecular-weight organic acids are present.
