A quad-ring delivers lower friction and better sealing stability than a comparable round-section o-ring.

It resists engine and transmission fluids, aggressive chemicals, and chlorinated solvents. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Viton® (FKM) is known for long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments and outstanding high-temperature capability. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Applications involving amines or low-molecular-weight organic acids call for a different compound.
