This quad-ring is supplied in AS568-031 black Viton® (FKM) 75 Shore A measuring an inside diameter of 1.739 in (44.17 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.879 in (47.73 mm), catalogued under part number VQ4031. It delivers lower friction and better sealing stability than a comparable round-section o-ring.

This material stands up to engine and transmission fluids, petroleum oils and fuels, and many acids. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Viton® (FKM) offers very low compression set at elevated temperature and long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments. Service temperature is rated from -15°F (-26.1°C) through 400°F (204.4°C). It is not the right choice where ketones and esters or hot water and steam are present. The profile itself contributes a parting line located away from the sealing surface and resistance to the spiral twisting that defeats round-section rings.

It sees regular use in chemical processing, automotive fuel systems, and oil and gas.
