Viton® (FKM) is specified here for excellent resistance to compression set and permeation, outstanding high-temperature capability. Expect good resistance to engine and transmission fluids, many acids, and aromatic hydrocarbons. Published continuous service range is -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Applications involving low-molecular-weight organic acids or hot water and steam call for a different compound.

Typical settings include semiconductor equipment, chemical processing, and automotive fuel systems.
