VQ4233 is an AS568-233 black Viton® (FKM) 75 Shore A Quad-Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 2.859 in (72.62 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.137 in (79.68 mm). In service, this quad-ring resists spiral failure in reciprocating service thanks to its multi-lobe geometry.

As a material, Viton® (FKM) is widely chosen for long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments and outstanding high-temperature capability. The material holds up against chlorinated solvents, aromatic hydrocarbons, and petroleum oils and fuels. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). It should not be specified for service in ketones and esters or hot water and steam. The profile itself contributes resistance to the spiral twisting that defeats round-section rings and lower compressive load required to achieve a seal.

It sees regular use in automotive fuel systems, chemical processing, and oil and gas.
