This material stands up to nearly all industrial chemicals, solvents, and steam. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Lubricated PTFE Filament is widely chosen for one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics. It should not be specified for service in service requiring elastic recovery or molten alkali metals.

This compression packing meets FDA requirements for food contact. It sees regular use in laboratory equipment, food and beverage, and chemical processing.
